Lily Allen
All day I've been listening to Lily Allen's album Alright Still on my iPod. It's brilliant, particularly lyrically. 21 years old, coincidentally born in Hammersmith in the year (1985) I was at school there. Ah good old 1985: the year I was madly in love for the first time, listening to One Night in Bangkok, Axel F. and Raspberry Beret. It was also the year I bought my first Lou Reed album, New Sensation...
Lily Allen is nothing like Lou Reed. She's more like The Streets meet The Specials meet Lady Sovereign. Where Lady Sovereign is a little scary (well, to me anyway), Lily Allen appeals greatly. Her sweet voice singing cutting lyrics to catchy melodies. Some of my favourite lines are:
From Friday Night
In the club make our way to the bar,

I saw you thought this was gonna be easy,

Yeah let's rewind, let's turn back time to when you couldn't get it up,

If that weren't enough to deal with,
You became premature.
Believe me, the lyrics come across as much more sharp and funny when Lily sings them than when you read them here.

Lily Allen rocks my world. Tho I’m very much inlcined to believe that I’ll be bored with this record is about a weeks time
Then again I can always change back to the Panic! At The Disco album.

lily allen is soooo gr8 and i listen to her songs all the time on mi ipod.
i luv the song nan your a window shopper because the lirics are sooo funny and she makes me laugh all the time.

lily is sooooo great.her songs rule ,she rules and her style deffnantly rules.
i get in trouble sooo much for listning to her songs in class on mi ipod when i am suposed to be doing spellin but i defantly dont care anything 4 her.

Yes, Lilly is great, but something tells me you might benefit from paying more attention in your spelling lessons – deffnantly!

Ah, the link to http://www.lilyallen.com now reads : Coming Soon… I guess Lily’s record company convinced the 3-year-old Lily Allen from Hong Kong (or her mother) to sell the domain and move her toddler-blog elsewhere.
