Gothic Lolita

Japanese culture fascinates me. I know relatively little about it, but sushi, karaoke, their work ethic, Dance Dance Revolution and now Gothic Lolita are enough to keep me enthralled. I really want to go to Tokyo one day, if only to buy all the rhythm games you can't get here.

Anyway, this Gothic Lolita look is all over the magazines and newspapers here at the moment. Spawned in Japan. There are very few adventurous fashion styles that appeal to me (being a lazy jeans and t-shirt kinda girl), but this has to be one of the scariest I have ever seen. It combines exactly what the name implies: gothic and Lolita (the sexy, underage schoolgirl look). Bit like Britney Spears' first video I suppose. But it also has a 'doll' aspect to it and that's what gives me the heebie-jeebies. China doll goes gothic. Not to mention the platform shoes: argh!
