iTunes Artwork and OCD
It took me a while, but I have finally digitized my entire CD collection into iTunes. That's over 600 CD's - pffff. But now comes the hard part - if you have an Obsessive Compulsive streak like me - the artwork and genre indexing. Combining my music (which is way in excess of 600 albums as I have downloaded a lot music too) with Merel's collection, brings us to over 25.000 songs. Over 100GB of music. Some of it without artwork and much of it labelled with genres that mean nothing to me. So how am I tackling this gigantian job?
Pay what you want
I'm admittedly a bit late with this post because it's almost a month ago that Radiohead first posted their new album In Rainbows on the web for (free) download. It is a great idea and I was convinced it would become a good example of how people are willing to pay for something they can get for free - as long as the price is reasonable and (in the case of music) the money goes straight to the artist. It would take the wind right out of the sails of the music industy's argument about losing money.
Perhaps it still will, but I was disappointed to discover today that only 38% of those that downloaded the album opted to pay anything for it. The average amount they paid was €6. That's a very realistic amount in my opinion, considering you don't get a physical CD or a booklet or a case or buy it in a comfortably heated shop with sky-high rent in the centre of town. So I went straight to the site to download the album (without listening to it first) and offered to pay £5 (approxiamately €7,20). I have yet to listen to it, but the purchase was more of a statement than anything else.
So if you love music but loathe the immature way that the record companies are responding to the 'digital-music era' (namely with DRM and all its negative side-effects on our privacy and freedom to listen to music when and where we want to), then go forth and prove you are willing to pay for good music ON YOUR TERMS.
10 Jaar Krezip
Morgenavond wordt de documentaire "Krezip Is 10" door de NPS uitgezonden. Ik heb er de laatste weken erg hard aan gewerkt en ben eigenlijk wel blij met het resulataat. Helaas wordt het pas om 00:00 zaterdagnacht uitgezonden - lang leve de netmanagers 
- dus opnemen dan maar? Waarschijnlijk is het daarna ook wel te zien bij Uitzending Gemist, . Ben benieuwd wat jullie er van vinden.

De clip is dus ook eindelijk af en heel erg mooi geworden (al zeg ik het zelf). We zullen 'm zo snel mogelijk op de site zetten... Wat een gave documentaire is het geworden! We hadden 'm zelf nog helemaal niet gezien dus ik vond 't wel spannend. Gelukkig waren Joost en JanPeter hier bij mij thuis dus konden we 'm samen kijken en wat hebben zitten genieten. Het was echt heel bijzonder om allemaal terug te zien en ik moest af en toe toch echt wel even slikken. Wat is er toch een hoop gebeurd in die tien jaar! Ik was ook heel blij dat Thijs had meegewerkt, we vonden eigenlijk dat hij niet kon ontbreken in een verhaal over tien jaar Krezip, vandaar dat Suzanna (de regisseur) hem ook geïnterviewd heeft. Ik heb 'm ook nog even gebeld daarna en hij was er ook helemaal blij mee, die kon ie mooi aan z'n dochter laten zien (ja mensen, Thijs is inmiddels vader!!). Je kan de documentaire trouwens terug zien via ! En a.s. donderdag komt het concert van Warchild op tv daar hebben we een paar nummers gespeeld, waaronder All My Life samen met Guus Meeuwis (was heel leuk!) en ik heb met Voicst meegezongen. Ik weet natuurlijk niet precies wat er allemaal wordt uitgezonden maar kijk in ieder geval a.s. donderdag op Nederland 3 om 20:30! Was weer ff de tv-update en dan ga ik nu lekker schrijven met JP..
